I am a recovering packrat.
Fibber McGee had nothing on me.
I am much much better than I used to be. When I was a kid, I was a compulsive hoarder of brochures and newspapers from all of the places we visited. When I started having to clean up after myself in "the real world", all that mess lost its shine. For the past few years, I've worked really hard to use less and keep less.
This has been my best year for purging all of the junk from my house and I know I still have pretty far to go. Once I started working at home full-time and also had to make room for an office, I knew I had to make some major changes. Now, I still don't want to talk about the "Evil Closet of Sweaters" or the "Triple Totes of Electronic Knick-Knacks" - but I will get them cleaned up soon.
As we head toward Christmas, I've stepped it up a notch. I completely cleaned up the attic, filled my car up with stuff for the thrift store, gave away the world's largest love set on Freecycle, and even posted some of the weirder stuff I have on eBAY.
Enjoy. And, feel free to bid...
